TAP Launches Lisbon–Athens Nonstop from 1 July 2026

TAP Air Portugal launched nonstop service between Lisbon and Athens on 1 July 2026, operating five times per week on its Airbus A321neo aircraft. The route filled a genuine gap: until now, travellers linking Portugal and Greece directly had no nonstop option and faced a connection in another European hub.

The new service also benefits inbound visitors. Travellers from Greece can now reach Lisbon directly rather than routing through London, Madrid, or Frankfurt - typically saving two or more hours of travel time in each direction.

What the New Service Means for Travellers

For anyone building a multi-country summer itinerary that combines Portugal and Greece, the nonstop opens a straightforward routing that was previously impractical. Flights take approximately three hours and forty minutes. TAP is operating the route five times weekly - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday - placing it firmly in the regular schedule rather than a seasonal experiment.

TAP’s Wider July Expansion

The Athens route is part of a broader TAP expansion effective July 2026. The airline also launched Lisbon–Curitiba (Brazil) from 2 July on three weekly flights using its Airbus A330-200 - a move that strengthened TAP’s trans-Atlantic network from Portugal’s hub. Together these additions bring TAP’s total network across Europe, the Americas, and Africa to its widest point since 2019.
